RSG Tasks UNDP Implementation Committee On Programmes
Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi has charged the State United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Partnership Implementation Committee to ensure effective implementation of the 7th country programme in Rivers State.
Giving the charge during the inauguration and meeting of the committee, Governor Amaechi who spoke through Barrister Bestman Nnwoka, special assistant to the Governor on International Donor Agencies, said monitoring and evaluation on the implementation of 7th Country Programme in the state reside with the partnership committee.
The governor reminded the committee’s members of the enormous responsibilities before them. Such responsibilities include ensuring co-ordinaton, synergies and linkages among the UNDP-assisted Implementing Partners and Programmes/Project as well as approval of Annual Work Plans and their subsequent revision (in consultation with UNDP).
The committee also has the mandate to establish and obtain advisory services of a contracts sub-committee for procurement of goods and services.
The committee, on its part at the occasion agreed that there should be a feedback on the evaluation followed by a re-advertisement of those programmes that did not meet the qualified number.
The Governor, however, urged all Implementing Partners to ensure that activities carried out are done effectively to meet the goal of UNDP 7th Country Programme.
