Graduate students of pharmacy have been warned against unethical conduct in the discharge of their duties as pharmacists.

Mrs Bola Odutan, the Acting Registrar, Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN), gave the warning on Wednesday during the 2008/2009 oath taking/induction ceremony for 158 graduates of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State.

She said the council would not hesitate to withdraw the certificate of anyone found dragging the image of the council in the mud through unethical conduct.

“Read the nine acts of the council very well and consider it first before doing anything while practising.

“More importantly, do not expose health records of your patients given to you in confidence.

“Avoid those who want to use your certificate to make business and dent the image of the profession,” she admonished.

The registrar urged them to use their profession to bring relief and succor to patients, noting that “with hard work, dedication and honesty, you will reach the peak of the profession in record time.

“Try to put smiles on the faces of people around you, especially your patients on their sick beds.”
