PDP Warns States Exco OnEndorsed Aspirants
The National Working Committee (NWC)of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has considered various issues affecting the growth and stability of the party and warned states executive committees of the party on endorsement of some aspirants before primary elections.
The NWC which met at its Wadata House national secretariat condemned in very strong terms the emerging trend in some state chapters where elected executives of the party are openly involved in endorsements of aspirants to elective positions even before primaries are held.
The PDP NWC said the action creates an undue advantage to the so called “endorsed” aspirants and is contrary to the new mood in the party, which states that all aspirants to offices must subject themselves to primary elections in a level playing field.
The NWC, therefore, directs all executives at all levels to desist from such undemocratic actions and conduct themselves as neutral in all matters of internal elections until aspirants emerge as candidates after duly constituted congresses.
