NSC Zonal Coordinator Promises Improvement In Sports
Dans Adokie, the newly appointed Zonal Coordinator of National Sports Commission (NSC) Zone III, has pledged to improve sports in the South-South, South-East.
Adokie, told newsmen at a send off organised by the NCS for his predecessor, Philip Gidado, that his assumption of office would bring more positive changes to the zone.
“I know that the outgoing coordinator performed well and left many legacies, I will strive to improve on what he has done.
“We still have a lot of programmes to do this year and we hope to conclude them before the year runs out,” he said.
Adokie also explained that Enugu had been a very peaceful and sports-loving state and commended the government for its efforts in moving the state forward.
According to him, all he needs from his staff and the people of the state is cooperation and support to get the job done.
“This assignment is a task that must be done. But I cannot do it alone; it will require collective effort and greater commitment of all,” Adokie said.
Philip Gidado, the outgoing coordinator thanked his successor and staff of the commission for the honour done to him with a befitting sendoff.
He advised the new coordinator to continue with the legacies he left behind while in office.
“As an experienced officer, you need to show full commitment to the job because a lot will need to be done in Enugu.
“I am optimistic that you will do well but this cannot be done without your staff and people around you,” Gidado said.
He advised the commission’s staff to cooperate with his successor to move the office forward.
Emmanuel Utobo, Director of Sports, Ebonyi State, commended Gidado for doing wonderfully well throughout his tenure and wished him well in retirement.
State directors of sports from Abia, Enugu, Imo and Anambra sports councils were present at the occasion.
