LG Boss Pledges Communal Security
The Andoni Local Government Chairman, Madam Emilia Gilbert Nte has pledged commitment to the security of lives and property in the area.
Madam Nte who gave the indication at an interactive session with newsmen in Port Harcourt also denied alleged involvement in the recent bloody crisis which engulfed Asarama community.
The council boss who spoke through her press secretary, Mr. Dan Metong Joseph further said that the crisis has nothing to do with the on-going Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) registration exercise in the area as reported in some newspapers.
She said that all actors involved in the fracas were not indigenes of Asarama in Andoni ward nine, or staff of the council.
According to her, all the youths involved in the crisis were indigenes of Samanga and Asakajak also part of ward six, noting that registration materials were yet to get to Asarama before the crisis started, pointing out that the council on its own footed the hospital bills of victim of the crisis at the Bori General Hospital.
He claimed that the crisis was linked to the age-long chieftaincy crisis in the community, but, however, warned detractors to keep off the area, as the council would deal ruthlessly with any one formenting trouble in the area.
In a similar development, the chairman of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission Chief (Dr) Ephraim Sobere Etete-Owoh has expressed surprise over the alleged linkage of his name to the crisis.
This was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
The release signed by the commission’s press secretary, Mr. Omoni Ayo Tamuno said that those linking the chairman’s name to the crisis was doing so for selfish reasons, as Chief Etete-Owoh has nothing to do with the crisis.
