Kidnapping, Challenge To Security – Deputy Speaker

Hon Dumnamene Deckor the deputy speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly has joined other Nigerians in condemning the kidnap of the chairman of the Lagos State council of Journalists, Wahab Oba and three others by unknown gunmen in Abia State.

He described the urgly incident involving these journalists as a challenge to national security and urged the relevant security agencies to rid off the society of the social menace.

Hon Deckor who gave the thumb down against this urgly societal vices during an interactive session with assembly correspondents, in Port Harcourt  at the weekend, called on well meaning Nigerians to canvass for the immediate release of the four journalists.

He noted that journalists held in high esteem should not be subjected to such societal vices like kidnapping because of their immense contribution to national development .

The state lawmaker called on the release of the four journalists including their driver unconditionally adding that hostage  taking is an act of disloyalty to the Almighty God.

“The Bible proposed death  penalty to hostage takers” and urged the Nigeria police to intensify their efforts to ensure that the journalists were released from the hands of their captors without further delay.

Hon Dockor maintained that many Nigerians have lost their lives in the hands of kidnappers and urged everybody to rise up against this societal menace and entirely condemn the urgly trend.

He noted that the solution to kidnapping should not be left alone in the hands of security agencies but, that every community and individual should assist them to run the kidnappers out of the society.
