The police in Enugu State say they will partner with journalists to rid the state of all forms of criminal activities through “friendly policing”.

The Police Commissioner, Mr Dan’Azumi Doma, who assumed duties in the state five days ago, stated this on Tuesday in Enugu while briefing newsmen.

Doma said, “Let us work together to make Enugu free of all forms of vices.

“We want to partner with you to reach out to the public about the good things that the police is doing.

“Come to us for information that you need to clarify before publishing. Our doors are open.”

He also said, “I am coming to Enugu State with a vision and a mission to make the state the safest in the nation through proactive and humane policing.

“I need you members of the press to succeed. Call on any of my numbers or those of my principal officers, the divisional police officers, divisional crime officers, and heads of specialised units at any time.”

The police commissioner further said that members of the public were free to call on those numbers and receive prompt attention.

“In a few days time, policing in Enugu will wear a new look. Kidnappings will be a thing of the past, I will be firm, friendly and fast,” he said.
