Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has warned land allotees in Palm Beach Housing Estate Obukpa (PBHEO) in Nsukka Local Government Area, to develop their plots within two years or risk its revocation by government.

Chime gave the warning in Nsukka while inaugurating the completed 30 detached bungalows built by the State Government out of the 120 proposed bungalows for the estate.

He said that the land when revoked would be given to willing developers.

“Any allotee who failed to develop his piece of land within two years would have it revoked and re-allotted to another person.

“Government does not encourage land speculation so develop your land. “ I am saying this now, so that nobody will claim he or she has been victimised,” he said.

He said that the Palm Beach Estate was his government’s first estate outside Enugu metropolis, pledging that government would extend the gesture to other local government areas in the state.

“The estate will help to ease housing problems in Obukpa as well as in Nsukka Local Government Area.

The Chairman of Enugu State Housing Authority, Mr Ikeji Asogwa, commended the Nsukka Council and the host community for their cooperation with the authority to complete the first phase on schedule. “I urge you all to keep up the cooperation to ensure the completion of the remaining bungalows.

Government acquired this land for the past 20 years and it had remained undeveloped.

We also commend the State Government for the ongoing effort at providing housing needs for the people.

Speaking earlier, Mr Tony Ugwu, the Chairman of the Nsukka Local Government Area, expressed his appreciation to the State Government for giving Nsukka the first estate outside Enugu Town.
