Ahead of the 2011 general elections, the Action Congress (AC) in Kaduna State has announced the adoption of a six-point plan to win elections in the state.

The secretary of the party, Alhaji Mohammed Soba, told newsmen in Kaduna that AC had evolved strategies to unseat the PDP in the state.

Soba said that the strategies included a cohesive party structure, aggressive membership drive and pragmatic leadership style.

“In addition, we also resolved to entrench internal democracy in our blossoming AC as well as field only credible candidates for the elections,’’ he said.

The scribe said that the electorate would be the ones to produce candidates for the polls from ward to the national level by 2011, assuring that “there will be no imposition of candidates’’.

He, however, warned that the party would not accept what he described as “unserious political thugs masquerading as representatives’’ of the people.

On the implementation of the party’s manifesto, Soba said that candidates to be fielded by AC must have unquestionable belief in its principles which was premised to uplift peoples’ welfare and ensure national development.

According to him, it is the people oriented manifesto that has endeared the party to the electorate in Lagos and Edo states.

“In Kaduna , we (AC) produced the only female local council chairman in Sanga, Mrs Comfort Amwe, and a member in the state House of Assembly from Kaura, Jonathan Kish,’’ he said.

The secretary added that the fortunes of the party were daily improving as the electorate were appreciative of AC’s programmes.

Soba urged the people to join the party for their salvation before the upcoming elections, saying: “The people have the option to remain in bondage or seek rescue in AC.’’

He commended the ongoing first amendment of the 1999 constitution “in spite of the fact that the exercise will not address all burning issues’’.

Soba lauded President Goodluck Jonathan for demonstrating seriousness in strengthening the country’s democratic project.

“So far, the action and pronouncements of Mr President toward entrenching a credible electoral process in the country is commendable,’’ he said.
