All Nigeria People Party (ANPP) in Abia has held its state congress and announced the zoning of its governorship position to Abia Central and Abia South.

Chief Cassidy Agbai, who was returned as the state party chairman, told newsmen after the congress that the election was meant to reposition the party for the 2010 general election.

He said that the party was set to spring surprises during and after the elections, adding that it was that goal that informed the election of credible men and women into the state executive.

“Our strength is derived from the fact that for 12 years ANPP in the state has been very consistent unlike in other parties where members vacillate between opinions”, Agbai said.

The party chairman said that the ANPP had not been overwhelmed by the opinion in the state but had been in the forefront to liberate residents of the state from bad governance.

Agbai said that the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Abia sould apologise to residents of the state for the trauma which bedeviled Abia over the years.

“The PPA is a kingdom of darkness and God allowed Governor Theodore Orji to go there in order to use him to liberate residents of the state.

“We expect everyone irrespective of party affiliation to support him just for that purposes”, he said.
