17th NSF: FA Chairman Tips Rivers Football Team For Gold

The chairman of Rivers State Football Association, Bar Christopher Green expressed optimism that the state’s football team would clinch gold at the forthcoming 17th National Sports festival, NSF, to be held in the state.

The optimism is reinforced by the serious preparations and performance of the team so far in the  build up matches.

The fooball team is currently camping at the University of Port Harcourt, Choba in preparation for the tournament.

Green stated at Bori at the weekend that seven players who were outstanding at the Ogoni champions Cup would join the team immediately and compete for places.

He advised the selected players to immediately report to the  secretary of the state FA to facilitate their admission.

Green said that the Rivers football team was working hard not to disappoint Rivers people during the festival.

The Rivers FA boss noted that Ogoniland is blessed with talented footballers and urged philanthropic, individuals to support efforts aimed at discovering of those players.

‘What I have seen here is pure and untainted grassroots football. And this is exactly the functions of the Rivers FA to encourage grassroots football.

“We don’t have funds from government , but we will continue to encourage them with the little resources we have.

“Ogoniland is blessed with talented footballers and capable of roducing many more Yobos. We have therefore picked seven of these players to join our cap at Uniport in our quest to win gold for the state at the national sport festival, he said
