Youths Unemployment Worries ANPP
The ANPP has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to take necessary steps to reduce the alarming rate of unemployment in the country.ANPP in a statement on Sunday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Emma Eneukwu, called for immediate solutions to the unemployment problems in the country.“Adequate attention must be given to solve unemployment and the problems of youths in the country. “Millions of talented youths and trained professionals in various fields are roaming the streets. “Something must be done to check this ugly trend or the future of the youths cannot be guranteed. “Our country is rated one of poorest countries in the world, when we are supposed to be celebrating economic growths and political breakthrough,” the party said.ANPP also called on federal government to resuscitate all the textile industries that have closed down, to create employment opportunities.It said that a functional railway corporation could also comfortably engage the services of more than 100,000 Nigerian youths.As a necessity, it called for quick attention to be given to the Ajaokuta Steel Corporation, under performing refineries and Enugu Coal Corporation to create more jobs for the youths.Equally, it urged Jonathan to learn from the mistakes of his predecessors to avoid a repeat of downturn perpetrated in the past.“His experience so far should condition him to take necessary measures and precautions that will provide gainful employment for Nigerian youths,” it stated.“It is necessary for the president to write his name in gold by giving Nigerian youths a well deserve living standard. “The president can only achieve the task of building a progressive Nigeria through maximum utilisation of the untapped potentials residing in the youth,” it stated.
