Sekibo Urges Peace, Sacrifice Among Ogu People
The senator representing Rivers East in the Senate, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, has enjoined the people of Ogu in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State to always have the interest of the community at heart.
Senator Sekibo who made the call during a pally with elders and members of some clubs in Ogu over the weekend said with understanding, cooperation and sacrifice, Ogu Community will move forward.
According to him, they should strive to ensure that they leave a legacy for the future, adding that time had come for Ogu people to sink their differences and forge ahead for the goal of the community.
He also advised that the on-going sandfilling projects in the area should be properly utilised as they would serve as new towns for the community and commended Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority (NDBDA) and the contractors for a job well done.
The Lawmaker charged the people of Ogu to exhibit their usual hospitality to the contractors to ensure that projects are carried out according to specifications.
Senator Sekibo thanked the people for their massive turn-out, saying that such interactive forum would further boost exchange of ideas on a way forward as concerned citizens.
In their separate speeches, a retired Rivers State Judiciary staff, Elder Clement Nemenibo, a former CDC chairman, Daju Atamuno, Elder M. Alege, Emmanuel Oloye, Mr. Fortune Fubara among others commended Senator George Sekibo for his love and interest for the community and solicited for more of such interactive sessions so as to rub minds on the development of Ogu community.
