Proprietress Emphasises Importance Of Maths, Practicals In Education

The Proprietress of Bereton Montessori Primary School in Port Harcourt, Mrs. Victoria Diette Spiff, has urged pupils of the school to develop interest in mathematics.

Mrs. Diette Spiff also called on teachers of the school to blend theory with practicals in their lectures in order to sustain and develop the skills and knowledge of children in mathematics and science subjects offered by the school.

The proprietress, who stated this recently during the grand finale of the school’s science club week, said the event, which covered areas such as mathematics, computer and information technology, Agricultural science and Basic  Science also thrilled their parents with their knowledge of science.

The areas also include water purification, how metals conduct electricity, knowledge of the bones and location in the human body and the role of certain glands in the human system.

Other areas where they exhibited their grasp of scientific  knowledge also include botanical names of major crops, scientific facts, brain spinning mathematical calculations, as well as quiz and facts about computers and their importance.

On her part, the head teacher of the school, Mrs. Esther Oghamanam said it was imperative to invite parents to come and witness their children/ward’s performance in their educational pursuits.

She admonished the children to always reason scientifically and to ensure that they take their studies serious,  saying that they are the leaders of tomorrow.
