NNPC Moves To Check Disparities In Products Supply
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) had waded into the conflict among members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) over disparities in product allocation to the marketers.
NNPC intervention followed complaints by some independent marketers over the skewed operation policies in the allocation of kerosene and other products including importation among the marketers regardless of the huge investment by some of the marketers.
Such selective distribution had pitted the independent marketers against themselves as some of the marketers felt slighted.
Consequently, NNPC Group Managing Director (GMD), Austen Oniwon has assured the IPMAN officials of a proper check in the distribution and allocation of various petroleum products during a visit by IPMAN to the NNPC.
The GMD said the corporation was working through the Products and Pipelines Marketing Company (PPMC) to ensure that recent complaints by some downstream stakeholders about disparities in the allocation of Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) were addressed.
He added that NNPC had concluded arrangement to ensure effective distribution of products across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Oniwon also disclosed that the NNPC has finalized plans with the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company PLC (NIPCO) to boost supply of kerosene to consumers across the country.
The NNPC boss further implored members of IPMAN to participate actively in the Greenfield Refinery projects of the corporation by taking up equity in the refineries, noting that such collaboration would go a long way in cementing the existing relationship between the corporation and IPMAN.
National President of IPMAN, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir said IPMAN was happy over the appointment of Oniwon as the new GMD of NNPC, describing him as an industrious man who has the potential of turning around the fortunes of the Nigerian oil industry.
