…New Coach Already Chosen
South Africa Football Association, Safa is keeping the lid on who will succeed Carlos Alberto Parreira, even though the Brazilian has disclosed that the next man to lead Bafana Bafana has already been decided on.
Parreira says that an announcement will be made soon and that “it is a very good appointment”.
Safa have always stated that the new Bafana coach will be a South African and that preference would be given to Parreira’s long-standing assistant, former SuperSport United coach Pitso Mosimane, who also occupied that position during the tenure of Brazilian Joel Santana.
However, Mosimane himself has cast an element of doubt over this with a statement to Tide sports source earlier last week that there have been no formal discussions with Safa yet and that he has not received a firm offer.
Safa CEO Leslie Sebide adds confusion to Parreira’s revelation by stating that the mother body still needs to “go through a complicated process before making their choice”.
Bafana Bafana will begin their quest to qualify for the 2012 African Nations Cup in September.
