Sani Mohammed, President, Nigeria Chess Federation (NCF), has urged players representing Nigeria at the forthcoming World Chess Olympiad to prepare early to ensure better performance.

The championship is scheduled for Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from September 9 to October 4.

“The early completion of the final trial will give the federation enough time to prepare the team for the task ahead in Russia.

“We hope to be in camp before the competition in September, just as several tournaments before then will also serve as preparation for the competition,” Mohammed said.

He told newsmen in Lagos that early preparations would enhance better ratings and increase the number of titles to be won.

Meanwhile, the federation has released the list of the 10 players who will represent the country at the championship.

Bunmi Olape leadsd the pack of the players in the male category.

Other male players are: Olamide Ajibowo, Olanrewaju Ajibola, Inimo Kigigh and Charles Campbell.
