Lawal Wants Eagles Maintain Focus In Matches
A former Super Eagles winger, Garba Lawal, has urged the Super Eagles to be focused and disciplined when they take on their opponents in their World Cup matches.
He said that loss of focus could cost the team their chances in the tournament.
“All the three games in the first round will not be easy matches. The important thing is to win the first match.
“If you win your first game, you know you will go further and to win the first match, you need 100 per cent concentration and focus.
“If you lose concentration you are finished,’’ he warned before Argentina pipped them 1-0 on Saturday.
Lawal urged the team to have tactical discipline and to play good games in subsequent matches.
He said that apart from Argentina, the Eagles should take other opponents in their group seriously because they are also contenders and were equally good.
He expressed optimism that the team would qualify from their group and for the next round.
The former attacker also urged the team not to fear names in other national teams but should play their normal game.
Nigeria will also meet Greece and South Korea in Group matches.
