Dare devil gunmen on Sunday killed two persons while abducting the paramount ruler of Umuebulun community in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Sunday Njoku.
The Tide gathered that the hoodlums attacked Eze Njoku at the Assemblies of God Church where he was worshipping by 9.30am and forcefully whisked him off, heading towards Abia State.
The Tide gathered that two persons died during the attack while trying to prevent the hoodlums from taking away the traditional ruler.
Sources hinted that several others at the church received injuries from stray bullets.
Eze Sunday Njoku, the Ochioma I of Umuebulun is the paramount ruler of Umuebulun communities in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Dr Rita-Inno-Abbey, who confirmed the incident in a telephone chat, said the command had commenced search for the kidnappers.
Dr Inno-Abbey said the command was yet to establish any contact with the abducters, stressing that they were yet to make any demand for ransom.
