A group, the South-East Budget Network (SEBNET), has urged Speaker Dimeji Bankole to resign and clear his name over allegations of corruption trailing the House of Representatives.

“Following the recent crisis where the members of the House of Representatives displayed thuggery, South-East Budget Network is calling on Speaker Dimeji Bankole and the House leadership to avoid using tyrannical approach in handling the issue of corruption allegations against it.  “Rather they should relieve themselves of their positions and face the allegations in a civil and democratic manner,’’ a statement by the group in Onitsha, Anambra, on Friday said. The statement was jointly signed by its Chairman and (PRO), Public Relation Officer, Messrs Princewell Okorie and Damian Ogudike respectively.

It expressed sadness that at a time the nation needed to patch its economic crumbs and forge ahead; the House was engrossed in accusations of financial malfeasance.
