Group Lauds Nwodo’s Appointment
The Nsukka Cultural Zone Solidarity Group has commended the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the appointment of Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo as the new National Chairman of PDP.
The Coordinator of the group and former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kaduna, Chief Ogbonnia Odo, said in Nsukka on Friday that the appointment would help restore internal democracy in the PDP.
Odo, who spoke at a rally to mark the appointment, said Nwodo as an experienced and seasoned nationalist, would boost the party’s fortunes.
“Our appreciation of his appointment is based on his good track records and one whose political root will not compromise national interest for selfish purposes.
“We are confident that Nwodo will re-position the party for a better performance given his wealth of experience.
“We pray that the Almighty God will grant him the wisdom and guidance so that Nigerian politicians will believe in democracy, effective political succession and good governance,’’ he said.
In their separate remarks, Prof. Demean Opata, Prof. Malachy Okwueze and Mr Nnemeka Nwodo, all solicited support for the new chairman
“The appointment of Nwodo is an appointment for integrity, honesty, transparency and unity of party members,’’ Opata said.
“The appointment of Nwodo will make the realisation of the proposed Adada State easier,’’ Okwueze, on his part, said.
NAN reports that the rally was attended by more than 600 people from the five councils in Nsukka district.
