Federation Cup: Kaduna Utd Leads PH Zone

After the forst matches of the 2010 Federation Cup group stage competition in Port Harcourt, Kaduna United FC currently tops the zone after a 1-0 victory over Niger Tomades.

It was the first of the two matches of the stage decided at the Sharks FC Stadium on Wednesday.

In the second match, less facied UNICEF Rovers FC of Calabar forced Premier League side, Kwara United to a 1-1 draw.

Speaking in an interview with Tidesports shortly after the game, the Chief Coach of UNICEF Rovers, Franklyn Howard expressed joy over the impressive performance of his players.

Howard who is an ex-international also expressed confidence that his team was capable and had the potentials to win the trophy.

“I really like the excellent performances put on by my players, they are determined and confident to lift the trophy. What really impressed me most is the quick recovery of the boys after going behind to Kwara United,” he said.

The ex-international commended the match officials for unbiased officiating.

“Nigerian football will grow and develop fast if all the referees can maintain this stardard because most crisis in the field of play are caused by poor officiating,” he added.

Howard used the forum to call on referees, especially those who officiate Premier League matches to always keep to their professional ethics to ensure that league matches are interesting.
