Fayose To Contest 2011 Poll
Former Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti on Thursday declared his intention to contest elective position in the state in the 2011 general elections.
Fayose, who was elected as governor in 2003 on the platform of the PDP, announced the intention in Ado-Ekiti.
Featuring on a personality programme organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Ekiti Council of the NUJ, Fayose said he would actively participate in politics in 2011.
The former governor, who was impeached in October 2006 and recently defected to the Labour Party, did not reveal the office he would be vying for.
“By the grace of God, let it be known to everybody that I, Fayose, will surely contest for elective position in the 2011 general elections in Ekiti State”.
“What is however not sure is the exact office I am to seek election into,” he declared.
Fayose said the outcome of the current political situation in the state would determine the choice of the political office he would seek.
“The judgment of the Court of Appeal in Ilorin on Fayemi versus Oni will no doubt shape the position of things as well as decisions of the major political gladiators, including myself,” he said.
