Enugu State Awards N154m Contract For Renovation Of Assembly
Enugu State Executive Council has awarded a contract for the renovation of the state House of Assembly at the cost of N154.9 million.
Briefing newsmen at the end of a meeting recently the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke, said the contract was awarded to Wilangy Nigeria Ltd.
The commissioner said that the work would involve total refurbishment of the complex, built by the Eastern Region Premier, late Dr. Michael Okpara.
The council also approved the relocation of Produce Department from Ministry of Agriculture to Commerce and Industry.
Ugwoke said this had become necessary, to make it easier to transcend all Federal Government-assisted programmes to the department through the state ministry.
According to him, 34 states have done so in their various states, stressing that the Commerce and Industry Ministry would inherit assets and liabilities of the department.
The commissioner said the ministry had been directed to set up a Produce Inspection Board as stipulated in the state Produce Law.
