Entertainment Hang-Outs Record Poor Sales In PH …As Nigeria Loses To Greece

Operators of entertainment hang outs in Port Harcourt suffered huge losses on Thursday following the 2-1 defeat of Nigeria by Greece in their second match at the ongoing World Cup in South Africa.

The Tide Entertainment gathered that some of the operators who used their hangouts as viewing centres had stocked their fridges with all sorts of drinks in anticipation of Nigeria’s victory which will result in high sales as it has always been the case in the past.

To their greatest surprise and disappointment, the Super Eagles lost and their customers were so demoralised that they left without buying even a bottle of soft drink.

One of the operators Mr. Nicholas Amadi who runs a popular hangout and viewing centre in GRA Phase 11 Port Harcourt, decried the poor performance of the Super Eagles and the huge loss he suffered in terms of sales and other business activities.

At Sangama Street, Mile 1 Diobu Port Harcourt Madam Eunice Amachree who operates a drinking joint disclosed that usually when Nigerians play and win their matches, she enjoys high sales as soccer fans besieged the joint to drink and celebrate with their friends. He said Thursdays experience is a big blow to her business as she spent all her money on drinks, snacks and pepper soup in anticipation of victory for the Eagles.

Despite this, Madam Eunice disclosed that the business is very lucrative as she enjoys high patronage from the public because of her excellent service and good manners. She said to succeed in this kind of business; the operators must be customer friendly and regard the customer as king.

Madam Eunice said business at drinking joints and other hangouts are always at its peak during soccer seasons like European Premier Leagues and other important social events when people come out in their numbers to enjoy themselves.
