Delta Force Seeks Early Completion of Asaba Stadium
Coach Nosa Uyigue of Delta Force Basketball Club of Asaba, has urged Delta State government to complete the ongoing Asaba stadium project to host major sports competitions.
Uyigue, who made the call in an interview with newsmen recently in Asaba, said the completion would also enhance sports development in the state.
“The state can benefit immensely from hosting major tournaments like the National Sports Festival in terms of infrastructure, athletes development and revenue generation.”
Uyigue also called on the state government to review the remuneration of its basketball players to make it more attractive.
“Good pay and enhanced allowances for athletes will spur them to win laurels and discourage them from moving to other clubs.
“Most of our key players left our team for other clubs which are paying higher salary than our state,’’ he said.
On the ongoing second phase of Zenith Bank Female Basketball competition, Uyigue commended his players for their efforts and urged them to put in their best in every match.
He assured the people of Delta that his team would still emerge winner at the 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt later in the year.
