Constituency Projects Excite Enugu Governor
Enugu State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime has described the constituency projects embarked upon by members of the National Assembly from the state as a means of economically empowering the people.
According to the governor, the gesture is in line with the new spirit of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Chime made the remark while speaking when he launched a multi-million naira Economic Empowerment programme provided by member, Representing Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency, Chief Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi for the people of the constituency at Udi
The governor noted that the new PDP spirit in the state calls for accommodation, inclusion of all, good governance and service delivery, adding that the party is united, peaceful and would continue to give all the opportunity to perform.
He observed that in the past such constituency projects eluded the people and commended the present crop of National Assembly members for remembering their people both by attracting laudable projects to the State and embarking on constituency projects for the people.
The governor specifically commended Chief Ozomgbachi for the Economic Empowerment projects which he said was a thanksgiving to God and members of the constituency.
In his speech, the State Chairman of PDP, Chief Vita Abba, urged political office holders in the state at all levels to take a cue from what the governor is doing, especially in the areas of service delivery.
He urged them to go for programmes and projects that would impact positively on the lives of the people.
Chief Abba described Chief Ozomgbachi as a worthy ambassador of the state whose meaningful contributions in some national issues at the National Assembly is unparalleled and worthy of emulation.
Also, the State Commissioner for Poverty Reduction and Human Development, Mr. Goddy Ogbo described Chief Ozomgbachi’s gesture as a major way of wealth creation. He expressed the hope that members of the State House of Assembly and Executive Council in the State would emulate him.
Mr. Ogbo noted delightfully that some political office holders and National Assembly members in the state are emulating the good works of the Governor, and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment/items given to them to improve on their living conditions.
In his speech, the donor of the items, Chief Ozomgbachi commended Governor Chime for providing the enabling environment for peace, security and good governance, which enabled the citizens to discharge their duties without hitches.
Chief Ozomgbachi explained that the items provided were his modest and humble personal project designed to touch the lives of the people, and thanked them for their support to him.
The National Assembly member explained that they would continue to draw inspiration from what the governor is doing in the state and will do more to compliment his efforts to make life more meaningful to the people of the State.
He told the beneficiaries that the items were not meant to be sold and, therefore, appealed to them to make good use of them to sustain and improve on their lives.
Some of the items distributed during the ceremony included forty pieces each of motorcycles, driers, refrigerator, video camera, grinding machines and public address system, as well as 120 pieces each of tiger brand of electric generating sets, and hair clippers.
Others are pieces of garri frying pans, twenty thousand naira each for identified indigent students.
