Bayelsa Assembly Serves Dep Gov Impeachment Notice
Embattled Deputy Governor of Bayesla State Rt Hon Peremobowei Ebebi, was yesterday, served an impeachment notice by members of the state House of Assembly.
The House presided over by the Speaker, Hon Werenipre Saibarugu at about 3pm said the notice which emanated from a motion raised by a member of the House is in line with section 128 sub-section 2 of the constitution.
Consequently, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to notify the Deputy Governor and all members of the House and thereafter directed leader of the House, Hon Nado Karigbo, representing Ogbia constituency I to lead the House in proceedings.
In his submission, Hon Karigbo informed the House that the impeachment notice has satisfied constitutional requirement for one third signatories, which going by the number of members in the House is eight, but that the impeachment notice far exceeds that.
The House later adjourned to Wednesday for more deliberation on the impeachment notice.
Immediately after the deliberations, the House members were driven off in a coaster bus under heavy security back to the Government House.
It would be recalled that in the past few months, the state Governor Timipre Sylva and his Deputy had been engaged in power play as both had accused each other of threat to life.
