APGA Wants Women Potentials Harnessed In Nigeria

Chief Victor Umeh, Factional National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has called for a reawakening of  political consciousness among women and urged Nigerians to harness the offices to better the lots of the people.

Umeh said in Abuja that the development would increase the desire and improve political participation among women.

He told newsmen that for that reason, the party believed in the ability of women to perform creditably in public positions.

“‘I believe that women are more passionate than men and you can see that exhibited in the management of various families. “Women are more caring and will not be very easily motivated to destroy like the men,” he added.

Umeh said that corruption would reduce if more women participated in politics, saying that that was the season why the party gave serious attention to women.

“I have always told them to put themselves forward because the party is gender sensitive,” he said.

He said that the party would continue to encourage women to run for elections by removing levies for them.

“In the first government we established in Anambra, we had a woman deputy governor, so we want more women to participate this time.

“It is a competitive business and we must put forward credible women who are strong and can stand elections,” he said.
