American Investor Moves To Produce Solar Energy In Nigeria

The moves by the Federal Government aimed at attracting foreign investors into the nation’s power sector has started paying off as a United States of America-based company, Synergent Ventures has indicated readiness in the production of solar and wind energy for rural electrification in Nigeria.

The Chairman of Synergent Ventures, Mr. Peter Bennee said the company, which recently concluded all registration formalities in Nigeria, had already started building the production and distribution network in Lagos and Abuja.

Mr. Bennee disclosed this in Abuja when the management of Synergent Ventures visited the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye.

“We already have the structure in place to set up high performance and low priced solar and wind energy panel in the country, particularly in the rural areas,” he said.

Senator Martins-Kuye, who expressed excitement over the development, said the coming of the American company was very important to the nation’s vision in improving power supply in the country, and assured that his ministry will provide the necessary support to make Nigeria a better place to do business.

The minister noted that the government was allowing the private sector to take the lead in the energy sector because of the opportunities they had to produce and distribute power.

He also assured the investors of government’s efforts to ensure security in the country, and reiterated the desire of the country for innovative ways of generating energy.

The minister beckoned on other investors to take advantage of the Federal Government’s willingness to creeate the eanbling environment for genuine investors.
