AMBO Premieres New Movie On Campuses

Amstel Brand ambassadors traversed the campuses of universities of Abuja, Lagos and the Enugu campus of University of Nigeria recently, promoting the campus premiere of the new AMBO Movie titled, “The Child,” featuring Wole Ojo, winner of AMBO 4 and top Nollywood stars such as Joke Sylva, Alex Usifo and Bukky Ajayi amongst others.

Directed by Izu Ojukwu and set in ancient Benin Kingdom, ‘The Child’ is a story of survival, struggle for power, love and intrigue. It revolves around a Benin town’s expectation of a child promised the community by the gods. The advent of the child will lead to the end of the community’s problems which included drought and recurrent war defeats especially against the Ijogun Army.

Two children born on the same night, one by the widowed queen Ifuseko, played by Joke Sylva, whose uncle, the Iyase (Alex Osifo) is the regent. Another woman gives birth to another son, the rains return, wars are fought and won and a basket mysteriously retains water after the boys are born.

As long as the basket holds water, the community is sure that their special one is still alive. However, there is a very stiff competition between both boys as each tries to prove his childship despite the fact that all have accepted the crown Prince Nosa (or Omo as his mother calls him) as Edake, the special one.
