Total Hands Over Projects To Egi Communities
Four completed community projects, executed by the NNPC/TEPNG, JV in the OML 58 area have been handed over to the people of Egi in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government of Rivers State by the company.
Handing over the projects to the Egi monarch, Eze Kingdom Elenwo, the Deputy Managing Director, Port Harcourt District of Total E & P Nigeria Limited, Mr. Roger Poirer said the projects were as a result of the MoU signed with the communities.
The project, which include, a 1.2Km internal road in Obite community, renovation of the two health centres at Akabuka and Obite communities, and the Egi women development centre, he noted, were indications of the level of peace and harmony existing between the people, the government and the company.
Mr. Poirer further hinted that the projects were considered for execution “on nomination as priority areas of development by the people, constructed by the people in line with the vision of TEPNG on building capacity of the people through projects and programmes.”
He added that the JV had also supported local health institutions in the area with drugs, equipment and other medical consumables to sustain the projects to enhance the already existing “partnership of development” in the area.
Responding, Eze Kingdom Elenwo, thanked the company for the projects, and assured of a peaceful co-existence in the area. He said Egi was blessed with oil and gas which has contributed to the development of the nation.
The monarch called on the company to embark on more sustainable projects in Egi for the development of the people.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Emmanuela Izunwa commended TEPNG over their Corporate Social Responsibility. The commissioner urged Egi women to make the best use of the development centre provided, and pledged the contributions of her ministry to the development of women in Rivers State.
