Princewill Joins PDP Soon

Indications that the inauguration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria’s President may force the former Rivers State Action Congress (AC) leader Prince Tonye Princewill to join the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged at the weekend.

Though Princewill who resigned from the AC last Wednesday is yet to take any political decision on what party to join, it was gathered that he has two options: to resign from politics and face his business or to follow his political godfather, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, fraternise with his friend, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi to strengthen the political structure of the state.

However, The Tide gathered that the Kalabari-born politician is likely to join the ruling PDP following the out come of various consultations he had with friends, associates, and numerous followers.

Speaking to The Tide the Ward II Chairman of Action Congress, (AC) in Port Harcourt local government, Mr. Ibiaowo Batubo recalled that the consultations were tailored towards rejoining PDP with a view to assisting the state government fulfill his dream for the people of Rivers State.

Batubo said they are determined to ensure that he does not only remain in politics but to rejoin PDP and help the governor who has been his long time friend serve the people of the state better.

Efforts to contact Princewill and his media consultant Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze were fruitless.

Meanwhile, the former Action Congress leader in the state said the recent visit of the president to Rivers State will herald the wind of positive change that was long expected in the Niger Delta.

In a statement signed by his media Assistant, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka, Princewill commended the president for the visit noting that the visit will enable the federal government have the first hand information on the development efforts of the present administration in Rivers State.
