Plateau Utd FC Loses Assistant Coach
The management of Plateau United FC of Jos has confirmed the death of the club’s Assistant Coach, Tony Pwol, last week after a brief illness.
A statement by the club’s Media Officer, Tongshinung Goteng, made available to newsmen over the weekend in Jos announced the death.
It said the late football tactician died at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
The statement said Pwol started his coaching career with the club in 2007 as a Physical Trainer and rose to Assistant Coach, a position he held until his death.
It added that Pwol had an Advanced Coaching Certificate from the National Institute for Sports (NISports), Lagos.
The deceased played for the defunct ITF and JIB Rock Strikers and Plateau United football clubs.
The statement quoted the General Manager of the club, Bitrus Bewarang, as saying that the loss was monumental to the immediate family and the club.
According to the statement, Bewarang described the late coach as a good tactician who had proved his mettle and had the potential to become a rich resource to football in Nigeria.
Pwol will be buried today in Zawan, Jos South LGA.
