The Commissioner of Inquiry into the tenure of Hon. Patrick Aisien as Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council has submitted its report.

Receiving the report, Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole remarked that established cases of fraud and mismanagement will be dealt with decisively while more serious ones will be referred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) for action.

According to the Governor, “established cases of fraud, corruption and mismanagement, those that we can deal with administratively, we will deal with in terms of trying to retrieve what is lost. The ones that will require further investigation, we will refer them to EFCC and ICPC. We will ensure that injustice is done”.

Governor Oshiomhole said “We will go through this report and I will forward it as required by law to the House of Assembly for consideration and government will decide how exactly to deal with the issues”.

The Governor noted that reports from the different local governments about the activities of Council Chairmen are disturbing, explaining that “if you want to act on all of them, you might have to suspend or remove them but we cannot stop acting on these petitions because as your report has revealed, if we were to be silent on this, it would have been had for the system.

The Governor commended the members for a thorough job in spite of the impediments on their path.

Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry, Justice San Elaiho (rtd) said the Commission could not meet the date of the submission due to unforeseen impediments.

Justice Elaiho said the report is in five parts which includes the main report, evidence of the witness for the Commission while volume 2 – 5 are copies of annexures and pictorial reports and a DVD recording.
