Nigeria Not Owing Coach –PTF
Lars Lagerback’s wages have been paid up until May, according to a Federal Government official and member of Nigeria’s Presidential task Force (PTF).
Lagerback’s $200 000 wages are being under-written by the PTF, and there were reports in the local media that the Swede was being owed two month’s wages.
But Abba Yola, a Nigerian Sports Ministry Official and member of the PTF said the stories were untrue.
“Lagerback has received his salaries up till May,” he stated.
“The PTF paid Lagerback’s salaries for April and May on May 5 through First Bank in Abuja who remitted the sum of $400 000 to the Barclays Bank account of his management company Aspire Management Limited.
“Barclays sent a payment receipt confirmation to us.
“The PTF is aware of how much importance the President places on a good World Cup performance and we cannot do anything to sabotage that effort.”
