Muslim Leader Hails Jonathan Over Sambo’s Appointment
As the National Assembly and the House of Representatives endorse Mohammed Namadi Sambo as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Chief Imam of Diobu Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdul Salami Arikeshola, has applauded President Goodluck Jonathan’s choice, describing it as the people’s choice.
Speaking to The Tide in an interview in Port Harcourt, Alhaji Arikeshola, said that having gone through the Upper and Lower homes which gave the approval Tuesday, the choice of Sambo is in order.
According to him, the vice president possesses the leadership qualities required going by his track record, saying, “he is a square peg in a square hole”.
He observed that with the pair of President Jonathan and Vice President Sambo, Nigeria would witness a new dawn in terms of development and good governance, expressing the optimism that the duo have the nation at heart just as they would better the lives of Nigerians.
Praying Allah to give them the wisdom to lead the nation towards the path of economic, social and political growth, the Chief Iman used the opportunity to praise Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his giant developmental strides.
“Amaechi is doing well. All what he is doing is for the betterment of the state and people”, he stressed, pointing out that a time shall come when his efforts would be appreciated.
Awarding the governor 85 per cent for his performance, the Muslim leader advised his followers to be of good character and adhere strictly to the doctrines of the Holy Koran, pointing out that, the Koran condemns and discourages killing contrary to the belief of some Muslims they who say they would go to heaven when they kill their fellow human beings.
He stressed the need for Muslims to relate well with their Christian counterparts, adding that both religions are concerned about worshipping one God.
“To kill is forbidden by Koran and anyone who kills is liable to die. Killing is not in the Holy Koran and Prophet Mohammaned did not kill nor support any form of killing”, he declared.
