The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the 16 local councils of the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Ben Duntoye, said in Ilorin on Thursday that the administration of Governor  Bukola Saraki had been fair to the councils in the provision of the dividends.

Duntoye said at ‘Newskeg’, a programme organised by the Correspondents Chapel of the NUJ, that the government had embarked on water projects, including the constructions of boreholes, in the councils.

He said that Saraki had brought good governance to the state to put it beyond the parochial politics of the past era.

The commissioner also said that Saraki had positioned Kwara as an investor friendly state, with efforts to woo investors yielding fruitful results.

“Any investor will want to look at the peace and infrastructure available in a place where they will invest and that accounts for the administration’s investment in international airport, aviation college and standard road network.

“Any investor coming to the state will see that they are coming to a state where the leadership knows and have taste for quality,” Duntoye added.

“The provision of infrastructure has been used by the government to checkmate rural-urban migration by the youth,’’ he said.

The commissioner attributed the good performance of the state radio station to government increased funding.

He said that both the A.M. and F.M. arms of the station had received commendations from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), while the transmitter provided for the KWTV had ensured state wide coverage.

According to him, the state’s electronic media will be digitised before the 2012 deadline stipulated by the NBC.

The commissioner added that effort to make the Herald newspaper to go daily was ongoing.
