Kaduna State Scouts For Female Players At NIPOGA Ahead 17th NSF
Kaduna State turned its searchlight on the ongoing Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) in Zaria to scout for players for the state’s female team.
The female football players are to represent the state in November at the National Sports Festival in Rivers.
Sama’ila Khalila, the state’s female football coach, told newmen in Zaria that he was asked to look for players to ensure the state retained the gold medal.
Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria are hosts of the NIPOGA which took off last weekend.
Kaduna State clinched the male and female football gold medals at the 16th National Sports Festival, tagged “Kada 2009”, finishing fifth on the medals’ table.
Khalila said: “The essence of my visit to Nuhu Bamalli is to scout for talented young footballers who will make us proud in ‘Rivers 2010’ in November.”
The coach said he would focus on young grassroots talents for grooming.
He lauded Vice President Namadi Sambo for his contributions to sports development in the state during his tenure as governor.
He said Sambo had made adequate arrangements to ensure the state retained their position in the forthcoming fiesta.
