HOS Cup Enters Semi Final Stage, Monday
The ongoing second edition of Rivers State Inter-ministerial footaball competition, tagged Head of Service (HOS) Cup, which is part of activities marking the 2010 Civil Service week will enter the semi final stage on Monday.
According to the organisers, the four semi finalists have been determined after the Government House team defeated Ministry of Justice 2 – 1 in the last quarter final match decided yesterday at the Shark Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Consequently the first semi find match scheduled between the Ministry of Education and their Special Duties counterparts holds on Monday, in Spite of the day being a public holiday.
The seems match, between the Ministry of Information and communications, Mighty Sparrows and Government House team takes place on Tuesday.
Both matches kick off at 4 p.m at the same venue each day.
The qualify for the semi finals, the Ministry of Education beat their Culture and Tourism counterparts to, whole the Ministry of Special Duties also defended Ministry of Water Resources with the same margin in the quarter final.
In the other quarter final matches, the Ministry of Informations Communication Mighty Sparrows overcome the Ministry of Health 2 – 0, while the Government House team edged their Justice Counterparts 2 – 1.
According to a release signed by Mr. George Bamson, the press officer to the Head of Service, Winners of the semi final matches would clash in the final at Sharks Stadium on June 24th to round off the 2000 Civil Service Week celebrations, while the third place match holds on June 8.
