Bill Gates, Anyaoku For Imo Economic Summit
Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, and Chief Emeka Anyaoku, a former Commonwealth Secretary-General, will be among participants at the Imo Economic Summit which opens in Owerri on June 8.
Chief Chucks Chukwuemeka, the Special Adviser on Economic Affairs and Due Process to Gov. Ikedi Ohakim, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri.
He said other expected dignitaries at the event were Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger and Mr Donald Trump, a U.S. real estate mogul.
Chukwuemeka said that the summit would be coordinated through the state’s Investment Promotion Agency (ISEPA), aimed at expanding the frontiers of the state economic development.
He said that some international organisations such as Global Investment Summit of United Kingdom, Imo Forum USA, CNBC Africa and JC Watts & Partners, and UAS would also participate in the summit.
He noted that the summit was intended to feature foremost international and local entrepreneurs, private equity fund managers, venture capitalists and captains of industry.
He said that the summit had already begun with road shows in Potsdam Germany on April 14 and Washington DC on April 29.
He said that the sensitisation shows would continue in Lagos on May 12, Abuja on May 14 and Owerri on June 8 during the summit.
Chukwuemeka said that the highlights of the summit included exhibition, project tours and group sessions.
He said others were tourism development, oil and gas, free trade zone, housing, infrastructure and agriculture.
