The Anambra Government is to set up a board to manage the state security trust fund for better performance.

Gov. Peter Obi made the announcement in Awka on Friday at a meeting with traditional rulers and presidents-general of town unions in the state.

Obi said the board would determine and regulate the utilisation of the fund for meaningful results.

He explained that the aim was to enhance accountability and transparency in line with the policy of his administration.

The governor said that the government would continue to assist the police and other security agencies within available resources.

Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Paul Odenigbo, said the state government would continue to pursue with vigour its policy of a crime free society.

Odenigbo promised that the government would not allow some miscreants to frustrate its cardinal objective of protecting lives and property.
