Fifteen participants from 10 states participated in the Nigeria Wushu-Kung-Fu Federation (NWKF) National Dual System Brown-Black Belt/Grading Course at the National Stadium, Lagos.

The NWKF President, Mr Ojo Adelusi, told newsmen in Lagos, that the course, which kicked off Monday ended on Wednesday with an examination.

“Coaches and referees were tested on the verbal and practical areas taught during the course after which successful ones will be upgraded from brown to black belt,’’ he explained.

Adelusi, who said the rules of the game were dynamic, added that technical officials needed to be in tune with the development.

“The programme will help in updating their knowledge,’’ he said.

According to him, the national championship also kick-off  yesterday.

He said: “This is our first programme for the year; so we want to use this opportunity to ensure that we achieve a lot.

“The first quarter has ended without achieving anything; this is not healthy for the development of the sport.

“This is why we decided to package the championship along with the course.’’

The NWKF president explained that upgraded referees would officiate during the national championship as their first assignment.

He said the international body would organise a grading course for technical officials in August.

According to Adelusi, exceptional officials at the programme will be selected to take part in the course, where 10 slots have been reserved for Nigeria.
