UYSFON To Hold Mrs Babangida Tournament, May

The United Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (UYSFON) has concluded necessary arrangements to organise a football competition to immortalise late Mariam Babangida, wife of former president of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Babangida, (Rtd) by May, this year.

Making this known to Tidesports in Port Harcourt, the president of  UYSFON, Chief Godspower Kokoriko, noted that, a giant trophy has already been donated by Chief A.K. Horsfall in memory of late Mrs. Babangida.

According to him the gesture of Chief Horsfall was borne out of his desire to use the soccer cup to immotalise the late wife of the former military president who had impacted positively on women in the country during her life time.

Kokoriko, thanked Chief Horsfall for his philanthropic gesture in donating the cup while assuring that UYSFON, a body committed to promoting grassroots football would continue to identify with excellence at all times.

Kokoriko said that he has visited the family of General Babangida, a new patron of UYSFON to intimate him of the forthcoming competition in memory of his late wife and sought his approval to go on.

The tournament, which is expected to be hosted in Port Harcourt for three consecutive years would have General Babangida, as Special Guest of Honour.

The trophy would be competed for, among under i 18 female football teams across the Federation.
