UI, RSUOE Disagree On Debt

Delegates from the University of Ibadan have stopped final students of River State University of Education from sitting for their exams over debt running into millions.

Some students who spoke with campus insight under cover, said that they are not part of the on-going examination in the campus due to the debt.

They hinted that the exams which was meant to hold on first week of March was delayed due to some crisis that arose from the debt owed by the authorities of RSUOE.

Campus Insight’s source, hinted that some delegates from UI stormed the school campus last month, and ordered that all exams be stopped until its debts were settled.

The medium further learnt that when levels 1-3 students threatened to carry out a violence protest, both the school management and UI delegation granted that they (level 1-3 students) should go on with their exams, but disallowed final students.

Others argued that the possible permit of the levels 1-3 to continue with their exams was not unconnected with the recent crisis in the school which was believed to be master minded of them.

The Tide on Sunday gathered that the final year examinations have been postponed indefinitely, pending when UI will resolve the crisis with the management of RSUOE.

This publication also was informed that the authorities of University of Ibandan (UI) are still claming ownership of the School (RSUOE), saying that due process must be followed before they (RSUOE) will be granted full autonomy.

Our sources explained that when the school was still known as (RSCOE) their final year exams were normally managed and co-ordinated by the authorities of UI.

Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer Mr Andrew .C. Ohaka on phone proved abortive, but sources within his office denied it, but said that RSUOE’s final year examination is normally stopped whenever it coincides with that of University of Ibadan.
