Team Rivers, Others Set For Promasidor Tourney
Defending champion, team Rivers and Lagos State para-soccer teams for the third edition of the Promasidor tournament scheduled for between today and Monday, April 5 at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Yaba.
The tournament is being organised by the Lagos State Paralympics Association (LSPA) and sponsored by Promasidor Nigeria Ltd.
The tournament is aimed at engaging physically-challenged persons in sporting activities.
The Lagos teams will be slugging it out with their counterparts from Rivers and Kaduna States.
The teams promised to improve on their last year’s performances, as they had devised new technicalities to beat their opponents.
Abudulahi Mohammed, Captain of the Total Consult Terrors, said that his team has been equipped with the necessary technical skills to excel at the tournament.
“Our welfare has also been taken care of by our management; I am sure this will also spur us into action,’’ Abudulahi said.
Captain of Lead Warriors, Garuba Hudu, also said that his team, injected with new players, was ready to dazzle their opponents.
Hudu urged the state government to engage more people in sporting activities as a way of taking them off the street.
Olajuwon Agidi, LSPA Head Coach, said his team were putting finishing touches to their training to ensure that they had a beautiful outing.
Besides the Lagos teams, Team Rivers and Amaechi Babes are participating from Rivers while Baba Moi and Team Kaduna are representing Kaduna.
Team Rivers are the defending champions.
