…Set To Recover N900m Debt In Suleja
The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) said it is set to collect about N900 million debt owed the company by its customers in Suleja, Niger State.
The Business Manager, Malam Aminu Shakur told newsmen that its staff were being mobilized to commence disconnection of customers who do not pay their bills, adding that nobody or organization would be untouched irrespective of how highly placed in the society.
He said a situation where PHCN in the area receives energy worth N55million monthly but collects N35 million from customers was unacceptable.
“We are now targeting 100 per cent collection, for energy supplied us,” said Malam Shakur.
He also disclosed that they were negotiating with the Nigerian Army, Zuma Barracks, located in the highway, Nigeria National Petroluem Company (NNPC) Depot, and Suleja Local Governemnt Council for the settlement of their bills.
The business manager commended the Gurara and Tafa Local government Councils for prompt payment of their bills.
He said the district has continued to upgrade its facilities to improve service delivery through the replacement of faulty or vandalised equipment, including replacement, of transformers.
Shakur regretted that vandalisation of transformers around Madalla town and its environ remained its biggest challenge, noting that in one particular location, the company had to replace vandalized transformer parts thrice within a month.
“The most worrisome aspect of that case is that the transformer is located within a residential area and yet it was vandalized thrice, and we have to replace the stolen parts in order to maintain supply,” he said.
