See Competition As Promoting Unity, Fitness – Elechi Tells Civil Servants
The chairman of the Sports sub-committee of the annual Rivers State Civil Servants week, Engr. Mike Elechi has urged players that will feature in the football competition to see the tournament as a means to promote unity and mental fitness among the civil servants.
Engr. Elechi, who is also the permenant Secretary Ministry of Sports, said this while briefing sports journalists in his office, recently in Port Harcourt.
He advised the football teams to abide by the rules of the tournament as they compete to win and build a better unified civil service in the state.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Sports recreation cannot be ruled out from daily lives of people, since it gives a balance to work and leisure.
“I encourage all ministries in the state to register only staff whose names are in the nominal roll. All registered staff / players must show identification card before they would be eligible to play, otherwise the person will be disqualified, because the game is all about promoting unity” he said.
Engr. Elechi used the forum to call all civil servants to come out enmasse to cheer their teams to victory
