NOA Boss Charges PPFN On Selfless Service
Volunteers of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) have been called upon to serve with humility and dedication.
Making the call, Thursday at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the PPFN in Port Harcourt the Rivers State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Chief Andy Nweye who was the chief guest of the occasion explained that service should not be rendered with arrogance and compromise of principles.
True volunteers, according to him, are selfless and driven by the spirit of leadership.
The NOA boss, who is also a volunteer, said “as a friend, I can say that the doors of the state NOA are open for the PPFN to approach with their requests and we shall continue to do our best.
As a volunteer, I take pleasure in helping to distribute male condoms and mosquito nets”, he said.
The chief guest was impressed by the appreciable participation of female volunteers and urged all the volunteers to publicise the facilities and services of PPFN to their respective neighbours.
Appreciating the good works of PPFN, the chief guest assured that he would include PPFN’s need for a motor vehicle in his report to the state governor.
In his annual report for 2009, the State Programme Officer, Mr Emmanuel Owor expressed regret that there could be no annual meetings since 2006 due to unavoidable circumstances.
Mr Owor noted that PPFN has successfully undertaken a restructuring exercise in 2005 and 2006, adding that the PPFN headquarters had relocated from Lagos to Abuja.
PPFN is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that promotes reproductive health and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
