No Political Ambition For 2011 – Princewill
The 2007 Guber candidate of the Action Congress in Rivers State Prince Tonye TJT Princewill, says he has no political ambition come 2011.
Prince Princewill, the Ac leader in Rivers State, who spoke in an interview with newsmen at Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa Tuesday, said that the appearance of a Prince in the political scene is unusual and should not happen all the time.
The Kalabari Prince noted that Prince ought not to be partisan but a political. He argued that his first appearance in the political arena of the state was necessitated by the need for the political class in the state to challenge the political structures of former Governor Odili.
“I was angry and surprised to note that the political class was not the prepared to challenge the structures that Odili put in place in Rivers State,” Princewill said.
According to him, things were very wrong then in the state, saying that if things continue the way they are in the state, he will sit back at home come next year.
He debunked the rumour making round that the former vice President, Atiku Abubakar and other big wigs in AC have concluded plans to gross carpet, adding that consultations are still on in both the state and the country concerning such moves.
He accused PDP of providing bad leadership in the country, noting that it would take concerted effort by some committed individuals to unseat the leading leadership of the ruling party.
The Rivers State, AC leader, also regretted the failure of the PDP at the grassroot, saying that if the electorate see a credible alternative, they will opt for it.
He maintained that there is still a lot to do in the country in the areas of orientation and proper civil education of the electorate. He was optimistic that 2011 will usher in different political and leadership styles in which cases political office holders will be more accountable to the people.
Princewill also reflected on Nigeria’s journey since independence, describing the country’s 50 years of existence as a big disgrace. He however advised opposition parties to remain steadfast in their commitment to provide check and balances in the country.
